Een wagen die in de richting van de kust reed verloor de controle over het stuur, net bij het verlaten van de Zelzate tunnel. De wagen knalde tegen enkele betonnen blokken in de middenberm. Door de klap vatte de wagen vuur en brandde volledig uit. \u00c9\u00e9n persoon werd in kritieke toestand weggevoerd met zware brandwonden. De brandweer van Zelzate en Assenede kwamen ter plaatse. Op hetzelfde moment was brandweer Zelzate ook al opgeroepen voor een hooibrand in Wachtebeke (klik <a title=\"Hooibrand Meersstraat Wachtebeke\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fototim.be\/wordpress\/index.php\/2009\/07\/19\/hooibrand-meersstraat-wachtebeke\/\">hier<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE: Enkele dagen later bezweek het slachtoffer aan
