Een wagen die richting Wachtebeke reed geraakte links van de weg af en botste tegen enkele bomen. De wagen kwam aan de overkant van de weg tot stilstand tegen een verlichtingspaal. Brokstukken werden meters ver verspreid door de klap. De bestuurder is onder MUG begeleiding afgevoerd naar het ziekenhuis. Later op de avond kwam de brandweer van Zelzate te plaatse om de rijbaan te reinigen. Omstreeks 20:30 was de rijbaan opnieuw vrij.
